Veterans’ Entitlements Regulations2

(Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986.

Principal Regulations

1. In these Regulations, “Principal Regulations” means the Veterans’ Entitlements Regulations.

Exempt class of persons for purposes of subsection 84 (6) of the Act

2. Regulation 5 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting from paragraph (b) “war-caused” (wherever occurring) and substituting “defence-caused”.

Information required for purposes of subsection 108 (11) of the Act

3. Regulation 8 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting “, or a dependant of a veteran,” from paragraph (b) of the definition of “relevant absence” in subregulation (1).

Travelling expenses under section 110 or 132 of the Act

4. (1) Regulation 9 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting from paragraph (6) (a) “a veteran” and “the veteran” and substituting “an entitled person” and “the entitled person” respectively.

(2) Regulation 9 of the Principal Regulations is amended:

(a) by omitting from subregulation (8) “$43” and substituting “$47.50”;

(b) by omitting from paragraphs (10) (a) and (b) “$5.50” and substituting “$6.00”; and

(c) by omitting from paragraph 10 (c) “$13” and substituting “$15.50”.

(3) Subregulation (2) shall come into operation on 1 July 1987.

5. After regulation 9 of the Principal Regulations the following regulation is inserted:

Address of the Commission—subsection 140 (2a) of the Act

“9a. For the purposes of subsection 140 (2a) of the Act, the prescribed address of the Commission is the office of the Assistant Secretary, Advocacy, 62-64 Colbee Court, Phillip, Australian Capital Territory.”.
