Determination of Non-warlike Service

Operation ASTUTE

I, Bruce Billson, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, for the Minister for Defence:

a.determine that:

(i). service rendered as a member of the Australian Defence Force assigned for service on Operation ASTUTE on or after 12 May 2006 in the specified area, is non-warlike service for the purposes of the definition of “non-warlike service” in subsection 5C(1) of the Act, and

(ii).   the specified area comprises East Timor and its territorial waters and superjacent airspace.

b.This Determination is taken to have commenced on 12 May 2006.
