An Act to amend the law relating to veterans’ entitlements, and for related purposes

The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1Short title

This Act is the Veterans’ Affairs Legislation Amendment (Budget Measures) Act 2022.

2Commencement

1. (1)

   Each provision of this Act specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

Schedule 1Amendments to increase rate of certain pensions

Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986

Subsection 24(4)

Omit “$919.40”, substitute “$1,595.66”.

Application of amendment

The amendment made by this Schedule applies in relation to working out, in respect of days occurring on or after 1 January 2023:

1. (a)

   the rate at which pension is payable under subsection 24(4) of the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986; or

2. (b)

   the rate of any other pension, or the amount of any other payment, that is worked out by reference to that subsection under a law of the Commonwealth.
