AN ACT to amend the Vermin Act, 1918-1958.

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

| amended. | 2. Section one hundred and three of the principal |
Act is amended
| (a) | by deleting the passage, " to and including the financial year ending on the thirtieth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-six," in line fifteen of subsection (1); |
| (b) | by adding after subsection (2) the following subsection |
(2a) Notwithstanding anything con- tained in any other law, for the purposes of subsection (3) of this section the amount of rates which the Commissioner of Taxation shall treat as having been recovered under this section in each financial year commencing with the financial year that commenced on the first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and sixty, shall be the amount of the rates which becomes payable in that financial year. ;
| (c) | by adding after subsection (8) the follow- ing subsection: |
(9) In order to resolve any doubt which but for the enactment of this subsection might arise, it is hereby expressly enacted
| (a) | that the powers conferred on the Protection Board by subsection (1) of this section shall be deemed to have continued to be conferred from the thirtieth day of June, one thousand nine hun- dred and fifty-six and to have continued to be exercisable by the Protection Board from that date; |
| (b) | that any rate imposed and assessed by or under subsection (1) of this section for any |

financial year from that date to the date of the coming into operation of this subsection, shall be deemed to have been as validly and effectively imposed and assessed, in all respects, as if this subsection had in fact been in operation when the rate was so imposed and assessed; and
that the provisions of subsection
| (c) | (8) of this section shall be deemed not to have been in operation since the thirtieth day of June, one thousand nine hun- dred and fifty-eight. |
