1.1.Name of Legislative Instrument

1.1.1.This instrument is the Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 38/04 – Trailer Brake Systems) 2013 Amendment 1.

1.2.Commencement

1.2.1.This instrument commences on the day after it is registered.

1. AMENDMENT OF VEHICLE STANDARD

2.1.The changes specified in Schedule 1 amend Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 38/04 – Trailer Brake Systems) 2013.

SCHEDULE 1

1. Clause 4.5 delete.

1. Clause 4.6 renumber as 4.5.

1. Clause 5.10 amend “...must comply with the requirements – AS4495:2000, ‘Commercial Road Vehicle – Interchangeable quick release couplings …..” to:

“...must comply with the requirements – AS4945:2000, ‘Commercial Road Vehicle – Interchangeable quick release couplings….”

1. Clause 11.1 amend “In the case of ‘Dog Trailers’, at least one front ‘Axle’ must skid before at least one rear ‘Axle’ at an ‘ERC’ greater than:…’ to:

“In the case of ‘Dog Trailers’, and with any ‘Antilock System’ disengaged or otherwise made not operational, at least one front ‘Axle’ must skid before at least one rear ‘Axle’ at an ‘ERC’ greater than…”

1. Appendix 1 Clause 2.1, replace:

“2.1.1 each ‘Single Axle’ and incorporate at least two wheel speed sensors;

2.1.2 at least one ‘Axle’ in any ‘Tandem Axle Group’ and incorporate at least two wheel speed sensors;

2.1.3 at least two ‘Axles’ in any ‘Triaxle Group’ and incorporate at least four wheel speed sensors;

2.1.4 at least three ‘Axles’ in any ‘Axle Group’ with four ‘Axles’ and incorporate at least four wheel speed sensors.”
