1.1.Name of Legislative Instrument

1.1.1.This instrument is the Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 31/02 – Brake Systems for Passenger Cars) 2009 Amendment 1.

1.2.Commencement

1.2.1.This instrument commences on the day after it is registered.

1. AMENDMENT OF VEHICLE STANDARD

2.1.The changes specified in Schedule 1 amend Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 31/02 – Brake Systems for Passenger Cars) 2009.

SCHEDULE 1

1. Appendix A amend “Supplement 7 to Regulation No. 13-H dated 23 July 2008” to read “Supplement 7 to the original version of the Regulation - Date of entry into force:  22 July 2009”.

1. Appendix A amend “Corrigendum to Supplement 7 to Regulation No. 13-H dated 13 October 2008” to read “Corrigendum to Supplement 7 to the original version of the Regulation - Date of entry into force:  22 July 2009”.

1. Appendix A amend “Supplement 8 to Regulation No. 13-H dated 18 December 2008” to read “Supplement 8 to the original version of the Regulation - Date of entry into force:  24 October 2009”.

1. Insert a new clause 6.3. to read

“The technical requirements adopted by the United Nations – Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Regulation No. 13 – UNIFORM PROVISIONS CONCERNING THE APPROVAL OF VEHICLES OF CATEGORIES M, N AND O WITH REGARD TO BRAKING, incorporating the 11 series of amendments, Annex 21, for vehicles equipped with a stability function which includes roll-over control and directional control shall be deemed to be equivalent to the technical requirements of Appendix A, Annex 9 of this standard for Electronic Stability Control for vehicles with a mass in running order > 1,735 kg.”
