Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Amendment (Trade and Number Plates) Regulations 2001

1Short titleThese regulations may be cited as the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Amendment (Trade and Number Plates) Regulations 2001 . 2CommencementThese regulations take effect on 1 January 2002. 3Principal RegulationsIn these regulations, the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Regulations 2000 are referred to as the Principal Regulations. 4Regulation 89 amended (Return of number plates or trade plate after cancellation or expiry, &c.) Regulation 89 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows: (a) by omitting from subregulation (2)(a) "14 days" and substituting "3 months"; (b) by omitting from subregulation (3) "14 days" and substituting "3 months". Displayed and numbered in accordance with the Rules Publication Act 1953.

These regulations are administered in the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources.
EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the regulation) These regulations extend, from 14 days to 3 months, the period within which the following plates are required to be returned to the Registrar of Motor Vehicles:
(a) number plates from a vehicle that has ceased to be registered (other than seasonally); (b) trade plates that have expired without renewal or been cancelled.
