Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Amendment (Road Rules) Regulations 2004

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 .22 December 2004

1Short titleThese regulations may be cited as the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Amendment (Road Rules) Regulations 2004 . 2CommencementThese regulations take effect on 1 March 2005. 3Principal RegulationsIn these regulations, the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Regulations 2000 are referred to as the Principal Regulations. 4Schedule 2 amended (Demerit Points Offences) Schedule 2 to the Principal Regulations is amended as follows: (a) by omitting items 71 and 72 from Part 1 and substituting the following:

71.	Fail to stop on yellow traffic light when could have done so safely and/or proceed before permitted	TRRR 57(1)	3	D026
71A.	Fail to stop on yellow traffic arrow when could have done so safely and/or proceed before permitted	TRRR 57(2)	3	D027
72.	Enter intersection contrary to red traffic light	TRRR 59(1)	3	D045, D385

(b) by inserting "(other than a roundabout)" after "intersection" in item 85 in Part 1 ; (c) by omitting item 101 from Part 1 and substituting the following:

101.	Fail to give way when entering (uncontrolled/ unsigned) road from road-related area to pedestrian on the road-related area	TRRR 74(1)(d)(i)	3	G150
101A.	Fail to give way when entering (uncontrolled/unsigned) road from road-related area to vehicle ahead or approaching from the left or right	TRRR 74(1)(d)(ii)	3	G151

(d) by inserting after item 178 in Part 3 the following:

179.	Enter marked foot crossing contrary to red traffic light	TRRR 59(1)	3	D046
180.	Drive with passenger under 16 years in/on part of motor vehicle not designed primarily for carriage of passengers or goods	TRRR 268(4A)	3	O135
181.	Drive with passenger under 16 years in/on part of motor vehicle not designed primarily for goods carriage if part is not enclosed	TRRR 268(4B)	3	O136
