Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Amendment Regulations 2021

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council make the following regulations under the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 .21 June 2021

1Short titleThese regulations may be cited as the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Amendment Regulations 2021 . 2CommencementThese regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette. 3Principal RegulationsIn these regulations, the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Regulations 2021 are referred to as the Principal Regulations. 4Regulation 79 amended (Compliance with relevant vehicle standards) Regulation 79(1) of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting paragraph (a) and substituting the following paragraphs: (a) that the vehicle is entered on the RAV via an entry pathway under section 15(2) of the RVSA: or (ab) an identification plate relating to the vehicle; or 5Regulation 83 amended (Registration period) Regulation 83 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting subregulation (2) and substituting the following subregulation: (2)  As a general rule, the registration period for a motor vehicle is to be 3 months, 6 months or 12 months. 6Schedule 1 amended (Fees) Schedule 1 to the Principal Regulations is amended by inserting in column 3 of paragraph (c) of item 6 in Part 3 "3 months or" after "period of".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the regulation) These regulations amend the

(a) an entry in the Register of Approved Vehicles of the Commonwealth may in certain circumstances be accepted as evidence that a vehicle complies with the relevant vehicle standards; and (b) the registration period for a motor vehicle, as a general rule, is to be 3 months, 6 months or 12 months.
