I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 .19 June 2006

1Short titleThese regulations may be cited as the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Amendment Regulations 2006 . 2CommencementThese regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette. 3Principal RegulationsIn these regulations, the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Regulations 2000 are referred to as the Principal Regulations. 4Regulation 39 amended (Requirements for motor vehicles used in driving instruction) Regulation 39(5) of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting the definition of dual controls and substituting the following definition: dual controls, in relation to a motor vehicle, means duplicate pedals for the footbrake and, if the vehicle has a manual transmission, the clutch, fitted so that an instructor seated in the same general transverse plane as the driver may operate the footbrake readily and effectively and disengage the transmission of the vehicle.
