Vehicle and Traffic Amendment (Vehicle Inspection Fees) Act 2007

An Act to amend the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999

Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:

1Short titleThis Act may be cited as the Vehicle and Traffic Amendment (Vehicle Inspection Fees) Act 2007 . 2CommencementThis Act commences on a day to be proclaimed. 3Principal ActIn this Act, the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999 is referred to as the Principal Act. 4Section 50 amended (Production of vehicles for inspection) Section 50 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting subsection (9) . 5Section 58A insertedAfter section 58 of the Principal Act , the following section is inserted in Part 8: 58AVehicle inspection fees If an inspection of a vehicle under this Act is carried out by – (a) a police officer or an authorised officer, the prescribed fee is payable to the Registrar; or (b) a person who has an agreement with the Crown to carry out inspections of vehicles, the fee specified by that person is payable to that person; or (c) some other person approved by the Registrar – (i) the fee specified by that person’s employer is payable to that employer; or (ii) if that person is self-employed, the fee specified by that person is payable to that person.
