1. Name
This is the Variation to Licence Area Plan – Remote Central and Eastern Australia Radio – 2017 (No. 1).
2. Commencement
This instrument commences at the start of the day after it is registered on the Federal Register of Legislation.

This instrument is made under subsection 26(2) of the Broadcasting Services Act 1992.
4. Variation
The Licence Area Plan – Remote Central and Eastern Australia Radio (F2005B01472), is varied as follows:
(a) omit numbered paragraphs (2) – (5) and substitute:
“(2) One commercial radio broadcasting service is to be available in the remote area described at Attachment 1.1 to this plan with the use of the broadcasting services bands. The characteristics, including technical specifications, of the service that is to be available in the area described at Attachment 1.1 are set out in Schedule One and Attachments 1.2 – 1.41 to this plan.
(3) Two commercial radio broadcasting services are to be available in the remote area described at Attachment 2.1 to this plan with the use of the broadcasting services bands. The characteristics, including technical specifications, of the services that are to be available in the area described at Attachment 2.1 are set out in Schedule Two and Attachments 2.2 – 2.93 to this plan.
(4) One hundred and twelve national radio broadcasting services and thirteen open narrowcasting radio services are to be available in the remote areas described at Attachment 1.1 and Attachment 2.1 to this plan with the use of the broadcasting services bands. The characteristics, including technical specifications, of the national radio broadcasting and open narrowcasting radio services that are to be available in the areas described at Attachment 1.1 and Attachment 2.1 are set out in Schedule Three and Attachments 3.2 – 3.126 to this plan.
(5) One community radio broadcasting service is to be made available in the remote area described at Attachment 4.1 to this plan with the use of the broadcasting services bands. The characteristics, including technical specifications, of the service that is to be available in the area described at Attachment 4.1 are set out in Schedule Four and Attachments 4.2 – 4.20 to this plan.”
(b) omit numbered paragraph (57) and substitute:
“(57) In this plan, unless the contrary intention, appears:
(a)a reference to a schedule or an attachment includes reference to that schedule or attachment as amended from time to time; and
(b)a reference to any other legislative instrument is a reference to that other instrument as in force from time to time; and
(c)a reference to any other kind of instrument or writing is a reference to that other kind of instrument or writing as in force or in existence at the time the reference was included in this plan.
Note 1: For references to Commonwealth Acts, see section 10 of the Acts Interpretation Act 1901; and see also subsection 13(1) of the Legislation Act 2003 for the application of the Acts Interpretation Act 1901 to legislative instruments.
Note 2: All Commonwealth Acts and legislative instruments are registered on the Federal Register of Legislation.”
(c) omit Schedules One, Two, Three, Four and Forty-Seven and substitute Schedules One, Two, Three, Four and Forty-Seven to this instrument;
(d) omit Attachments 1.4 to 1.38, 2.8 to 2.83, 3.2 to 3.120, 4.6 to 4.17, 5.1, 47.1 and 47.2 and insert Attachments 1.4 to 1.41, 2.8 to 2.93, 3.2 to 3.126, 4.6 to 4.20, 5.1 to 45.1, 47.1, 47.2, 48.1 to 56.1.
