Valuation of Land (Amendment) Act

The Parliament of Victoria enacts as follows:
1. Purpose
The main purpose of this Act is to amend the Valuation of Land Act 1960 to provide for municipal councils to make biennial valuations of land.

2. Commencement
This Act comes into operation on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.
3. Biennial valuations
(1) In section 13DC of the Valuation of Land Act No. 6653.
Reprint No. 81960, for sub-section (3) substitute— as at 1 July
1997."(3) A council must cause a valuation of rateable land within its municipal district to be made and to be returned after 1 January 2000 and before 30 June 2000.".
(2) In section 13DC of the Valuation of Land Act
1960, for sub-section (5) substitute—
"(5) A council which has caused a valuation of
rateable land within its municipal district to
be made and returned must cause another
such valuation to be made and to be returned
after 1 January and before 30 June in the
second year immediately following the lastsuch valuation.".
4. Consequential amendments
(1) In section 13DD of the Valuation of Land Act
1960—
(a)
in sub-section (1), for "fourth or sixth year, whichever is applicable," substitute "second year";
(b)
in sub-sections (1) and (2), for "three years" (wherever occurring) substitute "2 years";
(c) in sub-section (4)—
(i) for "lessening " substitute "length";
(ii) for "less" substitute "other".

(2) In section 13DE of the Valuation of Land Act
1960—
(a)
in sub-section (1), for "one year" substitute "2 years";
(b) in sub-section (2), for "three" substitute "2".
