Parliamentary Salaries and Superannuation (Amendment) Act 2004

[Assented to 21 September 2004]

The Parliament of Victoria enacts as follows:

1.Purpose

The purpose of this Act is to amend the Parliamentary Salaries and Superannuation Act 1968 to limit the increase in the salary payable to members of the Parliament of Victoria in the current financial year to 3% with effect from 1 July 2004.

2.Commencement

This Act is deemed to have come into operation on 1 July 2004.

3.Amendment of section 3—Definitions

In section 3 of the Parliamentary Salaries and Superannuation Act 1968, in the definition of "basic salary" for "$500" substitute "$1442".

4.Repeal of section 3A—spent provision

Section 3A of the Parliamentary Salaries and Superannuation Act 1968 is repealed.
