Police Regulation Amendment (Protective Services Officers) Act 2011

No. 2 of 2011

[Assented to 29 March 2011]

The Parliament of Victoria enacts:

1Purpose

The purpose of this Act is to amend the Police Regulation Act 1958 to make provision for the appointment of additional protective services officers to perform further functions.

2Commencement

(1)Subject to subsection (2), this Act comes into operation on a day to be proclaimed.

(2)If this Act does not come into operation before 1 January 2012, it comes into operation on that day.

3Appointment of protective services officers

(1)In section 118B(1) of the Police Regulation Act 1958 for "of persons holding certain official or public offices and of certain places of public importance." substitute

"of—

(a)persons holding certain official or public offices;

(b)the general public in certain places;

(c)certain places of public importance.".

(2)Section 118B(1A) of the Police Regulation Act 1958 is repealed.

4Repeal of Act

This Act is repealed on 1 January 2013.
