Shop Trading Reform Amendment (Easter Sunday) Act 2011

The Parliament of Victoria enacts:
1Purpose
The purpose of this Act is to amend the Shop Trading Reform Act 1996—
(a)to remove shop trading restrictions on Easter Sunday; and
(b)to repeal section 5A of that Act which provides for Easter Sunday exemptions; and
(c)to make other minor amendments.
2Commencement
This Act comes into operation on the day after the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent.
3Definitions
In section 3(1) of the Shop Trading Reform Act 1996—
(a)in paragraph (a) of the definition of ordinary shop closing times omit ", Easter Sunday"; and
(b)in the definition of Secretary, for "Innovation, Industry and Regional Development" substitute "Business and Innovation".
4Repeal of section 5A
Section 5A of the Shop Trading Reform Act 1996 is repealed.
5Repeal of Amending Act
This Act is repealed on the first anniversary of the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.
Note
The repeal of this Act does not affect the continuing operation of the amendments made by it (see section 15(1) of the Interpretation of Legislation Act 1984).
