Parliamentary Committees Amendment Act 2011

No. 7 of 2011

[Assented to 12 April 2011]

The Parliament of Victoria enacts:

1Purpose

The purpose of this Act is to amend the Parliamentary Committees Act 2003 to change the membership and quorum requirements of Joint Investigatory Committees.

2Commencement

This Act comes into operation on the day after the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent.

3Amendment of section 21—Membership of Joint Investigatory Committees

For section 21(1) of the Parliamentary Committees Act 2003 substitute

"(1)A Joint Investigatory Committee must consist of not less than 5 members and not more than 10 members of whom—

(a)at least 1 must be a member of the Legislative Assembly; and

(b)at least 1 must be a member of the Legislative Council.".

4Amendment of section 23—Quorum

Section 23(2) of the Parliamentary Committees Act 2003 is repealed.

5Repeal of Amending Act

This Act is repealed on the first anniversary of its commencement.

Note

The repeal of this Act does not affect the continuing operation of the amendments made by it (see section 15(1) of the Interpretation of Legislation Act 1984).
