The Parliament of Victoria enacts:
1Purpose
The purpose of this Act is to amend the City of Melbourne Act 2001 to clarify the persons entitled to apply to be enrolled on the voters' roll.
2Commencement
This Act comes into operation on the day after the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent.
3Persons entitled to apply to be enrolled
After section 9B(3) of the City of Melbourne Act 2001 insert—
"(4)For the purposes of subsection (1), a person who is an occupier of rateable property is not entitled to apply to be enrolled unless the person has occupied the rateable property for at least one month immediately before the entitlement date.".
4Repeal of amending Act
This Act is repealed on the first anniversary of its commencement.
Note
The repeal of this Act does not affect the continuing operation of the amendments made by it (see section 15(1) of the Interpretation of Legislation Act 1984).
