Local Government (Brimbank City Council) Amendment Act 2012

No. 41 of 2012

The Parliament of Victoria enacts:

1Purpose

The purpose of this Act is to amend the Local Government (Brimbank City Council) Act 2009 to provide for a general election of the Brimbank City Council to be held on the fourth Saturday in March 2015.

2Commencement

This Act comes into operation on the day after the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent.

3General election

For section 10(1) of the Local Government (Brimbank City Council) Act 2009 substitute—

"(1)Despite section 31(1) of the Local Government Act 1989, a general election of Councillors for the Brimbank City Council—

(a)is not to be held on the fourth Saturday in October 2012; and

(b)is to be held under that section on the fourth Saturday in March 2015.".

4Repeal of amending Act

This Act is repealed on the first anniversary of the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.

Note

The repeal of this Act does not affect the continuing operation of the amendments made by it (see section 15(1) of the Interpretation of Legislation Act 1984).
