1  Name

This instrument is the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation (Warlike Service) Determination 2019.

2  Commencement

This instrument commences on the day after registration on the Federal Register of Legislation.

3  Authority

This instrument is made under paragraph 6(1)(a) of the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004.

4  Schedules

Each instrument that is specified in a Schedule to this instrument is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in that Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this instrument has effect according to its terms.

5 Definitions

In this instrument:

Actmeans the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004.

ADF means the Australian Defence Force (within the meaning of the Defence Act 1903).

NATOmeans the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

6 Warlike service

Schedule 1 specifies service with the Defence Force that is warlike service for the purposes of the Act.

Schedule 1—Warlike service

1        Warlike service

For the purposes of paragraph 6(1)(a) of the Act, service with the Defence Force in an operation mentioned in an item of the following table is warlike service for the purposes of the Act if the service:

(a)        is in an area of operation mentioned in the item; and

(b)        occurs during a period mentioned in the item.
