1. Objective

n The objective of these Regulations is to amend the
a Fair Trading (Safety Standard) (Bunk Beds)
n Regulations 2002 to exempt certain classes of
o bunk beds from the prescribed safety standard for
ti bunk beds.
la 2. Authorising provisions

g These Regulations are made under sections 34 and
e 165 of the Fair Trading Act 1999.
L 3. Safety standard not to apply to certain bunk beds

a For regulation 4(2) of the Fair Trading (Safety
ri Standard) (Bunk Beds) Regulations 20021
to substitute—
ic "(2) For the purposes of section 33(1) of the Fair

Trading Act 1999, AS/NZS 4220:1994 is

V the prescribed safety standard for bunk beds

supplied as an item of furniture or part of an

item of furniture, other than—

ts (a) portable bunk beds designed for
n camping; and
e (b) bunk beds that are built-in fitments in
m caravans, camper trailers, tent trailers,

c camper vans, motor homes, trains,
o ships, aircraft and other types of
D conveyances.".
