Local Government (Brimbank City Council) Amendment Act 2014

The Parliament of Victoria enacts:
1Purpose
The purpose of this Act is to amend the Local Government (Brimbank City Council) Act 2009 to provide that the next general election of Councillors for the Brimbank City Council is to be held on the fourth Saturday in October 2016.
2Commencement
This Act comes into operation on the day after the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.
3Consequential amendment to section 6
At the end of section 6 of the Local Government (Brimbank City Council) Act 2009 insert—
"(2)Despite anything to the contrary in any Order in Council or the terms and conditions of appointment of an administrator, the term of appointment of an administrator continues until the meeting specified in section 10(2) starts, unless the office of the administrator becomes vacant in accordance with section 7(g).".
4Repeal of spent provision—section 8
Section 8 of the Local Government (Brimbank City Council) Act 2009 is repealed.
5Amendment of section 10—general election
For section 10(1) of the Local Government (Brimbank City Council) Act 2009 substitute—
"(1)A general election of Councillors for the Brimbank City Council is to be held under section 31(1) of the Local Government Act 1989 on the fourth Saturday in October 2016.".
6Repeal of amending Act
This Act is repealed on the first anniversary of its commencement.
Note
The repeal of this Act does not affect the continuing operation of the amendments made by it (see section 15(1) of the Interpretation of Legislation Act 1984).
