Road Safety (Vehicles) (Heavy Vehicle Fees) Regulations 2006
The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1.Objective
The objective of these Regulations is to amend the Road Safety (Vehicles) Regulations 1999 to prescribe increased fees in respect of the registration or renewal of registration of heavy vehicles.
2.Authorising provision
These Regulations are made under section 95 of the Road Safety Act 1986.
3.Principal Regulations
In these Regulations, the Road Safety (Vehicles) Regulations 1999[1] are called the Principal Regulations.
4.Definition of "National Schedule"
In regulation 105(1) of the Principal Regulations, in the definition of "National Schedule" after "Commonwealth" insert "as in force immediately before 1 July 2006".
5.Certificates of registration
For regulation 218(1)(g)(iii) of the Principal Regulations substitute—
"(iii)the applicable vehicle charging category under the National Schedule; and".
6.Fees for registration of heavy vehicles
In regulation 235(1) of the Principal Regulations after "that Part" insert "and, in relation to a fee payable on or after 1 March 2007 and before 1 July 2007, is that fee increased by 2×7% (rounded up or down to the nearest whole dollar amount, rounding an amount of 50 cents upwards)".
7.Schedule 4 amended
In Schedule 4 to the Principal Regulations, in clause (3)(a) after "National Schedule" insert
"in accordance with regulation 235(1)".8.Statute law revision
(1)In regulation 201(a)(i)(C) of the Principal Regulations for "and" substitute "or".
(2)In regulation 235(3) of the Principal Regulations for "7, 8, 10, 11," substitute "10,".
