Road Safety (General) (Peer Passenger Restrictions) Regulations 2008

The Administrator of the State of Victoria as the Governor's deputy with the advice of the Executive Council, makes the following Regulations:

1Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to amend the Road Safety (General) Regulations 1999 to prescribe—

(a)the offence of a P1 probationary driver driving a motor vehicle with more than one peer passenger in the vehicle as an offence for which a traffic infringement notice may be issued; and

(b)the penalty for that infringement.

2Authorising provision

These Regulations are made under section 95 of the Road Safety Act 1986.

3Commencement

These Regulations come into operation on 1 July 2008.

4New item 2569 inserted into Schedule 4

In Schedule 4 to the Road Safety (General) Regulations 1999[1], after the entry in respect of the code number 2129 insert

"2569 P1 probationary driver driving a motor vehicle with more than one peer passenger RS (D) R 219A 3 penalty units".
