Catchment and Land Protection Amendment Regulations 2008
The Lieutenant-Governor as the Governor's deputy with the advice of the Executive Council makes the following Regulations:

1Objective
The objective of these Regulations is to amend the Catchment and Land Protection Regulations 2002—
(a)to substitute the definition of rabbit with a definition of European Rabbit; and
(b)to make consequential and miscellaneous amendments.
2Authorising provision
These Regulations are made under section 95 of the Catchment and Land Protection Act 1994.
3Principal Regulations
In these Regulations, the Catchment and Land Protection Regulations 2002[1] are called the Principal Regulations.
4Definitions
For the definition of rabbit in regulation 3 of the Principal Regulations substitute—
"European Rabbit means a rabbit of the species known by the scientific name of Oryctolagus cuniculus;
Note
This species of rabbit is declared to be an established pest animal under the Act".
5Keeping of European Rabbits without permit
(1)In the heading to regulation 4 of the Principal Regulations, for "rabbits" substitute "European Rabbits".
(2)In regulation 4 of the Principal Regulations—
(a)for "rabbits" (wherever occurring) substitute "European Rabbits"; and
(b)for "rabbit" substitute "European Rabbit".
6Prescribed measures for the eradication or control of European Rabbits
(1)In the heading to regulation 8 of the Principal Regulations, for "established pest animals" substitute "European Rabbits".
(2)In regulation 8 of the Principal Regulations, for "established pest animal known as rabbit of the species Oryctolagus cuniculus (European Rabbit)" substitute "European Rabbit".
(3)In regulation 8(a) of the Principal Regulations, for "established pest animal" substitute "European Rabbit".
(4)In regulation 8(b) of the Principal Regulations, for "established pest animal" substitute "European Rabbit".
