Supreme Court (Chapter I Amendment No. 24) Rules 2011

The Judges of the Supreme Court make the following Rules:

1Object

The object of these Rules is to amend Chapter I of the Rules of the Supreme Court to provide that Associate Judges may hear applications and exercise powers under the Civil Procedure Act 2010 and to make a statute law revision amendment.

2Authorising provisions

These Rules are made under section 25 of the Supreme Court Act 1986 and all other enabling powers.

3Commencement

These Rules come into operation on 28 February 2011.

4Authority of Associate Judges

(1)For Rule 77.01(2)(a)(iiia) of the Supreme Court (General Civil Procedure) Rules 2005[1] substitute—

"(iiia)the Civil Procedure Act 2010;

(iiib)section 143 of the Confiscation Act 1997;".

(2)In Rule 77.01(2)(a)(iv) of the Supreme Court (General Civil Procedure) Rules 2005 for "Evidence Act 1958" substitute "Evidence (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1958".
