Road Safety (Vehicles) Amendment (Fees) Interim Regulations 2012
The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1Objective
The objective of these Regulations is to amend the Road Safety (Vehicles) Regulations 2009 to increase the base fee that is payable for the registration or renewal of registration of a vehicle other than a heavy vehicle.
2Authorising provision
These Regulations are made under section 95 of the Road Safety Act 1986.
3Commencement
(1)These Regulations (except regulation 6) come into operation on 1 April 2012.
(2)Regulation 6 comes into operation on 30 March 2013.
4Principal Regulations
In these Regulations, the Road Safety (Vehicles) Regulations 2009[1] are called the Principal Regulations.
5Schedule 3—Fees for registration and renewal of registration
(1)After clause (2)(a) of Schedule 3 to the Principal Regulations insert—
"(ab)in the case of a vehicle other than a heavy vehicle and for the period starting on 1 April 2012 and ending on 29 March 2013, 18·54 fee units; or".
(2)In clause (2) of Schedule 3 to the Principal Regulations, for "paragraph (a) or (b)" substitute "paragraph (a), (ab) or (b)".
6Revocation of amendments to Schedule 3
(1)Clause (2)(ab) of Schedule 3 to the Principal Regulations is revoked.
(2)In clause (2) of Schedule 3 to the Principal Regulations, for "paragraph (a), (ab) or (b)" substitute "paragraph (a) or (b)".
7Expiry
These Regulations expire on 31 March 2013.
