Road Safety (Drivers) Amendment (Tractor) Regulations 2012
The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1Objective
The objective of these Regulations is to amend the Road Safety (Drivers) Regulations 2009 to clarify that a person who holds a car driver licence, car learner permit, light rigid vehicle licence, medium rigid vehicle licence or heavy rigid vehicle licence is authorised to—
(a)drive a tractor; and
(b)tow a trailer of any size with that tractor.
2Authorising provision
These Regulations are made under section 95 of the Road Safety Act 1986.
3Authority given by car driver licence and car learner permit
For regulation 8(1) of the Road Safety (Drivers) Regulations 2009[1], substitute—
"(1)The holder of a car driver licence or car learner permit is authorised to drive—
(a)a car; or
(b)a tractor; or
(c)a tractor that is towing a trailer of any size.".
4Authority given by light rigid vehicle licence
In regulation 9 of the Road Safety (Drivers) Regulations 2009—
(a)after paragraph (a) insert—
"(ab)a tractor; or"; and
(b)in paragraph (c), for "tonnes." substitute "tonnes; or"; and
(c)after paragraph (c) insert—
"(d)a tractor that is towing a trailer of any size.".
