Road Safety (General) Amendment (Car Doors) Regulations 2012

The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to amend the Road Safety (General) Regulations 2009 to increase the infringement penalty for the offence of causing a hazard to any person or vehicle by opening a door of a vehicle, leaving a door of a vehicle open or getting off, or out of, a vehicle.

2Authorising provision

These Regulations are made under section 95 of the Road Safety Act 1986.

3Schedule 7—Traffic Infringements

In column 5 of item 76 of Schedule 7 to the Road Safety (General) Regulations 2009[1], for "1 penalty unit" substitute "2·5 penalty units".
