The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to amend the Magistrates' Court (Fees) Regulations 2012 to exempt persons or classes of persons from certain fees payable in the criminal jurisdiction of the Magistrates' Court of Victoria.

2Authorising provision

These Regulations are made under section 140 of the Magistrates' Court Act 1989.

3Exemption from initiation fees in the criminal jurisdiction

(1)In the heading to regulation 7 of the Magistrates' Court (Fees) Regulations 2012[1] for "initiation fees" substitute "certain fees for a proceeding".

(2)In regulation 7 of the Magistrates' Court (Fees) Regulations 2012, for "item 3.2 of the Schedule" substitute "items 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4 and 3.5 of the Schedule in respect of proceedings in the criminal jurisdiction".
