Public Health and Wellbeing Amendment (Immunisation Services) Regulations 2013

The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to amend the Public Health and Wellbeing Regulations 2009 to authorise the disclosure to Councils and the use by them of certain information in order to facilitate the provision of immunisation services to children attending secondary schools.

2Authorising provision

These Regulations are made under section 232 of the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008.

3Commencement

These Regulations come into operation on 1 December 2013.

4Principal Regulations

In these Regulations, the Public Health and Wellbeing Regulations 2009[1] are called the Principal Regulations.

5New Part 11 inserted

After Part 10 of the Principal Regulations insert

"PART 11—MISCELLANEOUS

89Disclosure of information to Councils by secondary schools—immunisation co‑ordination

(1)For the purposes of carrying out a function under section 24(f) of the Act, a Council may request the principal of a secondary school located within the municipal district to disclose the following information about a student enrolled at the school—

(a)the name of the student;

(b)the student's date of birth;

(c)the student's gender;

(d)the class or group to which the student is attached;

(e)the name of the parents or guardians of the student and their telephone numbers, email addresses and postal addresses;

(f)the languages spoken at the student's home.

(2)On receiving a request under subregulation (1), the principal may disclose information held by the school.
