Parliamentary Salaries and Superannuation (Allowances) Amendment Regulations 2015

The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to amend the Parliamentary Salaries and Superannuation (Allowances) Regulations 2013 to amend—

(a)the definition of committee to include a standing committee or select committee of either House of Parliament; and

(b)the definition of Parliamentary business to include Parliamentary party meetings held on a sitting day; and

(c)the procedures for members notifying details of their home base and second residence.

2Authorising provision

These Regulations are made under section 8 of the Parliamentary Salaries and Superannuation Act 1968.

3Definitions

In regulation 5 of the Parliamentary Salaries and Superannuation (Allowances) Regulations 2013[1]—

(a)after paragraph (c) of the definition of committee insert

"(d)a standing committee or select committee of either House of Parliament;";

(b)in paragraph (a) of the definition of Parliamentary business, after "(including regional sittings)," insert "Parliamentary party meetings on a sitting day,".

4Notification of home base and second residence

(1)In regulation 6 of the Parliamentary Salaries and Superannuation (Allowances) Regulations 2013, for "relevant Presiding Officer" (wherever occurring) substitute "relevant Clerk".

(2)After regulation 6(3) of the Parliamentary Salaries and Superannuation (Allowances) Regulations 2013 insert

"(4)In this regulation, relevant Clerk means—

(a)in relation to a person who is a member of the Legislative Assembly, the Clerk of the Legislative Assembly; and

(b)in relation to a person who is a member of the Legislative Council, the Clerk of the Legislative Council.".

5Second residence allowance

In regulation 7(1) of the Parliamentary Salaries and Superannuation (Allowances) Regulations 2013, for "relevant Presiding Officer" (wherever occurring) substitute "relevant Clerk".
