Regulations 2015

The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to amend the minimum size for enclosures for dangerous dogs and restricted breed dogs for the purposes of section 38(3)(c) of the Domestic Animals Act1994.

2Authorising provision

These Regulations are made under section 100 of the Domestic Animals Act 1994.

3Enclosures for dangerous dogs and restricted breed dogs

(1)In regulation 7(1)(b) of the Domestic Animals Regulations 2015[1], for "10 m2" substitute "10 square metres".

(2)Insert the following note at the foot of regulation 7 of the Domestic Animals Regulations 2015—

"Note

Section 38 of the Act sets out the circumstances in which the owner of a dangerous dog must keep the dog in a prescribed enclosure that complies with the regulations. Section 41G of the Act sets out the circumstances in which the owner of a restricted breed dog must keep the dog in a prescribed enclosure within the meaning of section 38 of the Act.".
