Biological Control (Amendment) Act
1996†
[Assented to 18 June 1996]
The Parliament of Victoria enacts as follows:
1. Purpose
The main purpose of this Act is to amend the
Biological Control Act 1986 to clarify the
meaning of the Council and the Authority in theAct.
2. Commencement
This Act comes into operation on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.

3. Definitions
| No. 57/1986. | (1) In section 3(1) of the Biological Control Act |
1986 for the definition of "Council" substitute—
' "Council" means the ministerial council ofwhich the Minister is a member, known as the Agriculture and Resource Management Council of Australia and New Zealand;'.
(2) After section 3(6) of the Biological Control Act
1986 insert—
"(7) If the name of the Council is changed, a
reference in this Act to the Council must be
read, from the date of the change, as areference to the Council by its new name.
(8) If the Council ceases to exist or the Minister
ceases to be a member of the Council, the
regulations may prescribe another ministerial
council of which the Minister is a member tobe the Council for the purposes of this Act.".
4. Victorian Biological Control Authority
For section 8(2) of the Biological Control Act
1986 substitute—"(2) The Authority is the Minister.".
5. Amendment of section 9
In section 9(1) of the Biological Control Act
1986 for "Administrative Unit" substitute"department".
