Gaming Machine Control (Community
Support Fund) Act 1996†

The Parliament of Victoria enacts as follows:
1. Purpose
The purpose of this Act is to amend the Gaming Machine Control Act 1991 to change the mode of application of money in the Community
Support Fund.
2. Commencement
This Act comes into operation on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.
3. Principal Act

4. Application of Community Support Fund
In section 138 of the Principal Act, for sub-section
(4) substitute—"(4) The Minister may apply money in the
Fund—
(a) first, for payment to the Research and Development Fund established under this section, the amount of such payment to be determined by the
Minister;(b) secondly, for payment for or towards the provision of any one or more of the following— (i) programs for the prevention of compulsive gambling or for the treatment or rehabilitation of
persons who are compulsive
gamblers;(ii) programs for the treatment or addicted to or abuse drugs;
(iii) educational programs relating to
drug addiction or drug abuse;(iv) programs for financial counselling services or support and assistance for families in crisis;
(v) programs for the benefit of youth;

Act No. 18/1996 s. 5 (vi) research or pilot programs relating programs;
(vii) programs for the benefit of sport or recreation;
(viii) programs for the promotion or benefit of the arts;
(ix) developing tourist destinations or
programs establishing or purposes of promoting tourism;
(x) relating to the support or
any other programs or purposes determined by the Minister.".
5. Saving
The amendments to the Principal Act by this Act do not apply to money applied by the Minister under section 138 of the Principal Act before the commencement of this Act.
