Melbourne Exhibition Centre

(Amendment) Act 1996

[Assented to 17 December 1996]

The Parliament of Victoria enacts as follows:

1. Purpose

The main purpose of this Act is to amend the
Melbourne Exhibition Centre Act 1994 to make
further provision for the Melbourne Exhibition
Centre land.

2. Commencement

This Act comes into operation on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.

3. Powers to deal with land

Amended by Nos 100/1995

In section 23 of the Melbourne Exhibition and 107/1995.
Centre Act 1994

(a) sub-section (1) is repealed;

(b) in sub-section (2) omit "(2)".

4. Reserved land

(1) The Order in Council dated 13 June 1984

published in the Government Gazette on 20 June Plan Office (Rs 10182) for the conservation of an area of historic interest is revoked to the extent that it applies to the land shown hatched on the plan in the Schedule.

77B in the City of South Melbourne as shown on

(2) On the revocation of the Order in Council under

sub-section (1)

(a)

the land is deemed to be unalienated land of the Crown freed and discharged from all trusts, limitations, reservations, restrictions, encumbrances, estates and interests;

(b)

the appointment of any committee of management is revoked to the extent that it applies to the land;

(c)

any regulations made under section 13 of the Crown Land (Reserves) Act 1978 are revoked to the extent that they apply to the land.
