Unlawful Gambling Amendment (Betting) Act 2000 (NSW)

An Act to amend the Unlawful Gambling Act 1998 with respect to unlawful betting on Australian races.

1Name of Act

This Act is the Unlawful Gambling Amendment (Betting) Act 2000.

2Commencement

This Act commences on the date of assent.

3Amendment of Unlawful Gambling Act 1998 No 113

The Unlawful Gambling Act 1998 is amended as set out in Schedule 1.

Schedule 1Amendments

(Section 3)

[1]Section 8 Offences relating to unlawful betting

Omit “other” from section 8 (3) (b) (ii).

[2]Section 8 (4A)

Insert after section 8 (4):

(4A)

Subsection (3) extends to a bet that is made by a person while in the State even though the other person with whom the bet is made is outside the State (including outside Australia).

[3]Section 8 (6)

Insert “(except subsection (3))” after “section”.
