AN ACT to amend Section 16E and Section 41 of the

University of Western Australia Act, 1911-1973.

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent

of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the University of Snort title

(3) The principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the University of Western Australia Act, 1911-1975.

Section 16E

amended.

2. Section 16E of the principal Act is amended

(a)	by inserting after the section designation "16E" the subsection designation "(1)"; and
(b)	by adding a new subsection as follows

(2) The provisions of section thirty- six of the Interpretation Act, 1918, do not apply to a regulation made by the Senate under subsection (1) of this section, and shall be deemed never so to have applied, and any such regulation shall take effect from the date of its promulgation in the University or from such later date as may be therein specified. .

Section 41 amended.

3. Section 41 of the principal Act is amended

(a)	by deleting the words "within three months from", where they occur in lines one and two of subsection (1), and substituting the words "as soon as practicable after";
(b)	by deleting the passage commencing with the word "audited", in line seven of sub- section (1) and ending with the word "aforesaid", in line thirteen, and substitut- ing the words "and a copy of every such report";
(c)	by inserting after subsection (1) a new sub- section as follows

expenditure of the University prepared

be audited at the expense of the University by the Auditor General who with respect to that account shall have all the powers conferred on him by the Audit Act, 1904. ; and

(d) by adding after subsection (2) a new sub- section as follows

(2a) A copy of every report furnished to the Senate under subsection (2) of this section shall as soon as practicable thereafter be laid by the Senate before both Houses of Parliament.
