His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has approved the following By-law made by the Council of the University of Technology, Sydney, under the University of Technology, Sydney, Act 1989.

Explanatory note

The object of this By-law is to replace all references to the “University Secretary’’ in the University of Technology, Sydney, By-law 1995 with references to the “Registrar”. From l January 1997, the date of commencement of this By-law, the offce of University Secretary will be abolished and a new ofice of Registrar will be established.

This By-law is made under section 28 (By-laws) of the University of

Technology, Sydney, Act 1989.

The Council of the University of Technology, Sydney, in pursuance of the University of Technology, Sydney, Act 1989, makes the following By-law:

1 Name of By-law

This By-law is the University of Technology, Sydney, Amendment

(Registrar) By-law 1996.

2 Commencement

This By-law commences on 1 January 1997.

3 Amendment of University of Technology, Sydney, By-law 1995

The University of Technology, Sydney, By-law 1995 is amended as set out in Schedule l.

4 Notes

The explanatory note does not form part of this By-law.

Schedule 1 Amendments

(Clause 3 )

1. Clause 4 Definitions

Omit the definition of “University Secretary” from clause 4 (l).
Insert in alphabetical order:

Registrar means the Registrar of the University.

[2]        Clauses 4 (3) (e), 7 ( 1 ) , 39 and 48 (3)

Omit “University Secretary” wherever occurring.
Insert instead “Registrar”.

A reference in any document of any kind to the University Secretary of the University is taken to be a reference to the Registrar.
