UNIVERSITY BE OF QUEENS- A~ ~ ~ !~ ~ T [ASSENTED TO 14TH OCTOBER, 1922.] it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, ACT OF 1922. bv .; and with the advice and consent of the LcO e 'is- lative Assemhl~ T of Queensland in Parliament assembled. and by the authority of the same, as follows ; - Short title 1. This Act may be cited as "The University of : ~ ~ struction Queensland Act Amendment Act of 1922," and shall be of Act. read as one with *" The University of Queensland Act of 1909," herein referred to as the Principal Act. 2. Section t\veniy-six of the Principal Act is repealed and the following section is inserted in lieu thereof ;- Annual "[26.] (1.) In and in respect of the calendar year Endowment. commencing the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three, and in and in respect of each calendar year thereaftor, there shall be paid to the K"mate out of the Consolidated Revenue, which is hereby appropriated for the purpose, the annual sum of twenty th;msand pounds for the purp')so vf defraying the charges ana expenses connected with the establishment, manage- ment, a,nd control of the University. Ep-dowment "(2.) In addition t,o'the endowment last herein- ~ ~ e~ f~ : ~ for before granted, whenever the Senate shall, after the research. passing of this Act, receive from public subscriptions or donations, or private bequests or benefactions, any capital sum or sums of money for the purpose of founding and awarding research fellowships in matters of research not provided for at the passing of this Act, or for the furtherance or encouragement of research in such matters, or for other like objects, the Governor- in Council may pay to the Senate, by way of endow- ment on such sum or sums of money so received as aforesaid but subject to such terms and conditions as the Governor in Council on the recommendation of the Sena te may determine, such sum or sums of money out of the Consolidated Revenue, which is hereby appropriated for the purpose, as the Governor in Council may think proper, but not exceeding in anyone year the sum of one pouf!.d for everyone pound so received on capital account as aforesaid nor a total sum of ten thousand pounds in respect of all such endowments." * 9 Edw.
