(Relating to Schools of the University and retirement of members of staff)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the University of Newcastle Act 1989, has been pleased to approve the By-law made by the Council of the University of Newcastle and set forth hereunder.

The Council of the University of Newcastle, in pursuance of the University of Newcastle Act 1989, hereby makes the By-law set forth hereunder:
The University of Newcastle By-law is amended:
(a)
by omitting from clause 32 (2) (d) the words “University; and” and by inserting instead the word “University,”;
(b) by omitting clause 32 (2) (e);
(c)
by omitting from clause 33 (1) the word “, School” wherever occurring;
(d) by omitting from clause 35 the word “, School”;
(e)
by omitting from clause 39 the word “Schools,” wherever occurring;

(f) by omitting clause 45.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
The object of this By-law is to amend the University of Newcastle By-Law:
(a)
to remove references to Schools of the University because of a reorganisation of the academic structure of the University which has resulted in the dissolution of Schools; and
(b) to remove provisions relating to the age at which members of staff must retire.
This By-law is made under the University of Newcastle Act 1989, including section
28 (the general by-law making power).
