The Council of The Australian National University makes this Statute under section 50 of the AustralianNationalUniversity Act 1991.

1  Name of Statute

1.1        This is the University Committees Statute 2010.

2  Commencement

2.1        This Statute commences on the day after it is registered.

3  Definitions

3.1        In this Statute, unless the contrary intention appears:

Rules means the Rules made under this Statute.

4  Establishment of Committees etc

4.1        The Rules may provide for the establishment, constitution, functions and powers of Committees of the University.

4.2        Nothing in this Statute requires that the establishment, constitution, functions and powers of a particular Committee be provided for under this Statute.

5  Rules

5.1        The Council may make Rules not inconsistent with this Statute, prescribing all matters required or permitted by this Statute to be prescribed, or necessary or convenient to be prescribed, for carrying out or giving effect to this Statute and, in particular, may make Rules about the following matters:

(a)   procedure for the conduct of meetings of a Committee;

(b)providing for the membership of a Committee;

(c)establishing and regulating the organisation and operations of a Committee.
