UNIVERSITY AND UNIVERSITY COLLEGES
(AMENDMENT) ACT.
Act No. 29, 1951.
An Act to make provision with respect to the George vi.
conferring of honorary degrees and the like by the Senate of the University of Sydney; for this purpose to amend the University and University Colleges Act, 1900-1948; to validate certain matters; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, 31st October, 1951.]
T )E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, I I by and with the advice and consent of the Legis lative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows
| 1. (1) This Act may be cited as the “ University and short | title and |
| University Colleges (Amendment) Act, 1951” . | citation. |
| (2) The University and University Colleges Act, 1900, as amended by subsequent Acts and by this Act, may be cited as the University and University Colleges Aet, 1900-1951. |

•Amendment 1900-1948, is amended by inserting next after section
twenty-one the following new section:—
New sec.
| 21a. | 21a. (1) The Senate shall have power and shall |
| Honorary | be deemed always to have had power to confer |
| degrees | |
| and other | without examination the several degrees of Bachelor, |
| distinctions. | Master and Doctor and such other degrees and such certificates in the nature of degrees as the Senate thinks fit upon persons approved by the Senate. |
| (2) The persons upon whom degrees or certificates are conferred under the provisions of subsection one of this section shall be entitled to the same rights and privileges as appertain to those who have taken the same degrees or certificates, as the case may be, in the ordinary course in the University. |
