Queensland Universities of Central and Southern Queensland Amendment Act 1991 Act No. 60 of 1991 An Act to amend the University of Central Queensland Act 1989 and the University of Southern Queensland Act 1989 [Assented to 18 September 1991]

2 Universities of Central and Southern Queensland Amendment No. 60, 1991 BE IT ENACTED by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows. PART 1—PRELIMINARY Short title 1. This Act may be cited as the Universities of Central and Southern Queensland Amendment Act 1991. PART 2—AMENDMENTS OF UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL QUEENSLAND ACT 1989 Amended Act 2. The University of Central Queensland Act 1989 is amended as set out in this Part. Amendment of s.8 (Constitution of the Council other than first Council) 3. Section 8(1)— after paragraph (c), insert — ‘ (ca) where an Academic Board is established under a Statute, the chairperson, by whatever name called, of the Board, who is to be an ex officio member; ’.

Section 76(4)— omit , insert — ‘(4) The first Council is to consist of— (a) those members of the Council of the University College of Central Queensland holding office immediately before the commencement of this section; and (b) where an Academic Board is established under a Statute, the chairperson, by whatever name called, of the Board, who is to be an ex officio member. ‘(4A) The member of the Council referred to in subsection (4)(b) first assumes duty on the day on which the Universities of Central and Southern Queensland Amendment Act 1991 commences. ’. Amendment of s.92 (Constitution of the Council of the University College other than the first Council of the University College) 5. Section 92(1)— after paragraph (c), insert — ‘ (ca) where an Academic Board is established under a Statute, the chairperson, by whatever name called, of the Board, who is to be an ex officio member; ’. Amendment of s.93 (Assumption of office by members of the Council of the University College) 6. At the end of section 93— insert — ‘(2) The member of the Council referred to in section 92(1)(ca) first assumes duty on the day on which the Universities of Central and Southern Queensland Amendment Act 1991 commences. ’.

The University of Southern Queensland Act 1989 is amended as set out in this Part. Amendment of s.8 (Constitution of the Council other than first Council) 8. Section 8(1)— after paragraph (c), insert — ‘ (ca) where an Academic Board is established under a Statute, the chairperson, by whatever name called, of the Board, who is to be an ex officio member; ’. Amendment of s.76 (Constitution of the first Council of the University) 9. Section 76(4)— omit , insert — ‘(4) The first Council is to consist of— (a) those members of the Council of the University College of Southern Queensland holding office immediately before the commencement of this section; and (b) where an Academic Board is established under a Statute, the chairperson, by whatever name called, of the Board, who is to be an ex officio member. ‘(4A) The member of the Council referred to in subsection (4)(b), first assumes duty— (a) if the Academic Board is established under a Statute at the commencement of the Universities of Central and Southern

Amendment of s.92 (Constitution of the Council of the University College other than the first Council of the University College) 10. Section 92(1)— after paragraph (c), insert — ‘ (ca) where an Academic Board is established under a Statute, the chairperson, by whatever name called, of the Board, who is to be an ex officio member; ’. Amendment of s.93 (Assumption of office by members of the Council of the University College) 11. At the end of section 93— insert — ‘(2) The member of the Council referred to in section 92(1)(ca) first assumes duty— (a) if the Academic Board is established under a Statute at the commencement of the Universities of Central and Southern Queensland Amendment Act 1991 —on the day on which that Act commences; or (b) if paragraph (a) does not apply–on the day on which the Academic Board is established under a Statute. ’.
