Short, title . This Act may be cited as the Universities Acts Amendment Act 1977.

This Act is arranged in Parts as follows:- PART 1-PRELIMINARY (SS. 1-2); PART 11- AMENDMENTS OF THE GRIFFITH UNIVERSITY ACT 1971-1973 (ss. 3-4); PART 111-AMENDMENTS OF THE JAMES COOK UNIVERSITY OFNORTH QUEENSLAND ACT 1970-1974 (ss. 5-6). PART 11-AMENDMENTS OF THE GRIFFITHUNIVERSITY ACT 1971-1973 3. Citation . The Griffith University Act1971-1973 as amended by this Part may be cited as the GriffithUniversity Act1971-1977. 4. Amendment of s. 34. Section 34 of the GriffithUniversity Act1971-1973 is amended bv- (a) omitting the note to the section appearing in and at the commencement thereof and substituting the note to the section " Financial accommodation."; (b) in subsection (1)- (i) omitting the word " temporary "; (ii) omitting the words " exercise and perform its functions " and substituting the words " perform and exercise its functions and all powers that are incidental in or necessary or conducive to the proper performance of its functions ". PART 111-AMENDMENTS OF THE JAMES COOK UNIVERSITY OF NORTHQUEENSLAND ACT 1970-1974 5. Citation . The James Cook University of North Queensland Act1970-1974 as amended by this Part may be cited as the James CookUniversity of North Queensland Act1970-1977. 6. Amendment of s. 37. Section 37 of the James Cook University ofNorth Queensland Act1970-1974 is amended by- (a) omitting the note to the section appearing in and at the commencement thereof and substituting the note to the section " Financial accommodation."; (b) in subsection (1)- (i) omitting the word " temporary ";
