REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903-1912.

Regulations for Universal Training—Parts I., II., and III.—Regulations 2 (e), 30a and 49 (2)—Amendments.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence Act 1903-1912 to come into operation forthwith. Such Regulations shall supersede the Provisional Regulations, Statutory Rules Nos. 4 and 24 of 1914, and 311 of 1913.

REGULATIONS FOR UNIVERSAL TRAINING—PARTS I., II., AND III.

Amendments.

Part I.—General.

Regulation 2 (e)—U.T. Regulation 2 (e) which reads:—

“Area Officers not holding commissions on appointment may be recommended for the rank of Lieutenant on the Unattached List, subject to the regulations governing such appointments,”

is cancelled, and the following substituted therefor:—

“Area Officers not holding commissions on appointment may be recommended for temporary rank on the Unattached List, and may held such temporary rank during the period of their temporary appointments as Area Officers.”

Part III.—Senior Cadets.

After Regulation 30a, add following new Regulation:—

“30b. Where a Senior Cadet has been committed by a Court to the custody of the officer commanding a place of detention, the Court may empower a member of the Permanent Forces to take the Cadet into custody for the purpose of conducting him to the place of detention to which he has been committed.

Regulation 49 (2) which reads:—

“The following shall be the articles and the scale of issue of uniform to Senior Cadets;—

Military Shirt, khaki, woollen..........................	One of each on commencement of first year’s service.
Breeches, cord, woollen, pairs.........................
Hat, with band, numeral, and strap....................
Puttees, pairs..................................................

 

Subsequent issues of any article will only be made when the first issue of such article has been outgrown or has become unserviceable through fair wear and tear, but not more than two articles of a sort are to be issued during the trainee’s service as a Senior Cadet. Issues of uniforms found unnecessary as above will only be made at intervals of six months, i.e., on 1st January and 1st July of each year.”

is amended to read as follows:—

“The following shall be the articles and the scale of issue of uniform to Senior Cadets:—

Military Shirt, khaki, woollen......................	One of each on commencement of first year’s service.
Breeches, cord, woollen, pairs.....................
Hat, with band, numeral, and strap...............
Puttees, pairs..............................................
Boots, ankle, brown, Senior Cadets, pairs.....

Subsequent issues of any article will only be made when the first issue of such article has been outgrown or has become unserviceable through fair wear and tear, but not more than two articles of a sort are to be issued during the trainee’s service as a Senior Cadet. Issues of uniform found necessary as above will only be made at intervals of six months, i.e., on 1st January and 1st July of each year.”
