Decision

  1. On 20 November 2015 this Full Bench heard and determined an application for the making of a new Award pursuant to s 140G(1)(b) of the Industrial Relations Act 1999 (the Act) for Auxiliary Firefighters who are employed on a casual basis by Queensland Fire and Emergency Services.

  2. The application, made by United Firefighters' Union of Australia, Union of Employees, Queensland (UFUQ), was consented to by the State of Queensland (Queensland Fire and Emergency Services).

  3. The history of this matter is extensive and is recited in Exhibit 2 (UFUQ Submissions).  These submissions were adopted by the representative for the State of Queensland (Queensland Fire and Emergency Services).

  4. The Auxiliary Firefighters' Award - State 2016 (the Award) was negotiated by the parties to it, and was reviewed by the Award Modernisation Team of the Commission to ensure that the language used is consistent with the form of modern awards made under the Act.

  5. The Full Bench is satisfied that the Award complies with the requirements of the Act in relation to modern awards.

  6. By consent the Full Bench makes the Award, which operates from 1 January 2016.
