Ooinpaii)’ Act. “ o f a, certain Coynpany carried on in the Town o f Sydney in the “ Colony o f New South Wales tinder the name style and firm o f “ ‘ The Union Assurance Company o f Sydney ’ to sue and be sued- “ in the name o f the Chairman o f the said Company fo r the time “ being and fo r other purposes therein mentioned ” it was recited That several persons had formed themselves into a company or society established at Sydney under the name style or firm of “ The Union Assurance Company of Sydney” for certain purposes therein mentioned And th a t it would he convenient and just that persons having demands against the said company should be entitled to sue some member tliereof in place and stead of the whole And it was among other things enacted That all actions suits or proceed­ ings to he commenced instituted or prosecuted at law or in equity against the said company should he commenced instituted or jirose- cuted against the Chairman for the time being of the said company as the nominal defendant for and on behalf of the said company And it was also (macted That execution upon any decree or judgm ent in any action suit petition or other proceedings obtained against the Chairman

on payment of a tec of one sliilfing and it any such Secretary or ])rm- cipal officer of the said company shall fail to cause such list to be recorded in m anner as aforesaid he shall be liable to a penalty of one Imndred pounds to be recovered by action of debt in the said Supreme Court by any person or persons suing for the same.
