The Uniform Rules Committee has made the following rules of court under the Civil

Procedure Act 2005.

Explanatory note

The object of these Rules is to amend the Uniform Civil Procedure Rules 2005 to enable a barrister acting on behalf of a party to sign proposed consent orders on behalf of that party.

1      Name of Rules

These Rules are the Uniform Civil Procedure Rules (Amendment No 55)
2012.

2      Commencement

These Rules commence on the day on which they are published on the
NSW legislation website.

3 Amendment of Uniform Civil Procedure Rules 2005

Rule 4.4 Signing documents

Insert after rule 4.4 (3):

(4) Despite subrule (1), a document setting out proposed consent orders between the parties to the relevant proceedings may instead be signed on behalf of a party by the party’s barrister.
