"{1l7 HEREAS on account of the passing of *The Vl Unemployment and Sickness Benefits Act of t1943 of the Commonwealth it is necessary, on its coming into operation, to suspend certain provisions of "The Unemployed Workers Insurance Acts, 1922 to 1936." Be it therefore enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- Short title 1. (1.) This Act may be cited as "The Unemployed ::struction. Workers Insurance Acts (Suspension) Act of 1944," and shall be read as one with t" The Unemployed Workers Insurance Acts, 1922 to 1936" and any Orders in Council and Regulations for the time being in force made there- under (herein collectively referred to as the Principal Act). Suspension of contribu- tions to the Fund. 3. From and after the commencement of this Act- (i.) Provisions for the levy, payment and collec- tion of contributions on, by and from workers and employers as provided by section five of the Principal Act; and (ii.) Provisions for the payment from moneys provided by Parliament as provided in section five of the Principal Act; and (iii.) Provisions for the levy, payment and collec- tion of contributions on, by and from workers pursuant to section 5A of the Principal Act ; and * Act No. 10 of 1944. t Sic. in Gazette.. Fund alnd during a period of twelve months from the comme~ cement of this Act sustenance allowance at the same rates and subject to the same conditions as would have been lawfully payable to workers on their becoming unemployed and lawfully eligible to receive such susten- ance allowance during such period of twelve months if this Act had not come into operation, and notwith- standin~ that the contributions by such workers to the Fund h~ ve been suspended. 5. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary Savings. contained in this Act the provisions of the Principal Act- (i.) Relating to the enforcement of the payment of and/or recovery of contributions levied upon and due, owing and payable by a worker and/or an employer at the commencement of this Act; and/or (ii.) Relating to the enforcement of penalties imposed or which may be imposed under the Principal Act shall have full operation and effect as if this Act had not come into operation. * 7 G. 6 No. 15, 1942-3 Sess. v., p. 327.
